Practice Update

We want to acknowledge that in recent weeks we have had to move some appointment times and staff around. Thank you for your understanding, and we are now permitted to share more of an explanation with you.

Many Afghan citizens who played a vital role in supporting British Armed Forces during years of military operations in the country are now being relocated to the UK.

These men and women, along with their immediate family members are temporarily housed in empty military accommodations, including in Shrivenham and Larkhill.

Our practice is working with the UK government and the Ministry of Defence to ensure the safe and supported arrival of these citizens, and to provide any necessary health checks.

As you will no doubt understand, this has been a fast paced operation and our team have worked extra hours and flexibly with our MoD colleagues to ensure existing patients receive the care they have come to expect, while the new citizens also receive the care they are entitled to.

We would like to thank all our staff for their extra effort at this, the busiest time of year for the NHS, and our patients for their compassion and understanding.

The following news article explains a little more of the background to this operation.
