Community Midwives

Emma Frayne

To contact the midwife please telephone 01793 604815 between 09:00 – 09:45 Monday to Friday.

At other times ring Great Western Hospital Tel: 01793 604020 and ask for the maternity bleep holder.

The Midwife holds antenatal clinics and classes and visits all new mothers and newborn babies in their own homes. She can advise you of local parentcraft classes and is happy to discuss and answer any questions.

Community Nurses

The team provide expert professional nursing care at home for people of all ages during acute or chronic illness. They offer advice and support on matters concerning health, including continence, to patients, their families and carers. By working closely with other health care professionals and Social Services they aim to meet the needs of the local community.

Health Visitors

To contact the Health Visitors please telephone 01367 245417 or 01367 245416.

The Health Visitor is a qualified nurse with special training and experience in child health, health promotion and health education. She is here to listen to you, and help, advise and support in all sorts of situations, including normal child development. A qualified nursery nurse works alongside the Health Visitors.

Attached Staff

Ridgeway Community Mental Health Team

The team consists of a community psychiatric nurse, a clinical psychologist and consultant psychiatry staff. They provide mental health services for elderly people with mental health problems and their carers. They can be contacted on 01235 810575.

Community Psychiatric Nurses

The community psychiatric nurses are based at Sandalwood Court, Highworth Road, Swindon, Tel 01793 836800. They provide care and support in the community to patients and their carers.

Counsellor & Psychology Team

The team is available to counsel patients with relationship and emotional difficulties, anxiety, depression, phobias etc.  A referral from a doctor or a self-referral can be made – please speak to a receptionist.

Physiotherapist

The Physiotherapist holds clinics at the surgery on Thursday and Friday mornings for the assessment and treatment of joints, soft tissue and muscular problems. A referral from doctor or nurse is necessary.

Dietician

The Dietician holds clinics at the surgery on a regular basis. She provides advice on dietary aspects of medical problems. A referral from a doctor or nurse is necessary.

School Nurses

The school nurse can be contacted at Faringdon Health Centre on 01235 774544, or through your local school.
